Bajpai Kachori Bhandar

Lucknow Morning Fog Vlog | Bajpai Kachori and Tea

Lucknow, the city of Nawabs and timeless culture, feels completely different during winter mornings. On 1st February, we decided to explore Lucknow early in the morning when the city was covered with dense fog and calm vibes. This short yet memorable journey took us from Telibagh to Hazratganj, covering iconic food spots, political landmarks, and a glimpse of Lucknow’s modern transformation.

Starting the Morning Journey: Telibagh to Hazratganj

Our day began early from Telibagh, a peaceful residential area of Lucknow. Winter mornings here are quiet, with minimal traffic and a soft layer of fog covering the roads. The goal was simple—to experience Lucknow the way locals do, without filters, without rush.

After putting our jackets on, we headed towards Hazratganj, which is considered the heart of Lucknow. Early morning is the best time to explore this area as shops are just opening, vendors are setting up their carts, and the city slowly wakes up.

Foggy Winter Roads of Lucknow

February mornings in Lucknow are known for fog, and that day was no exception. Visibility was low, but the atmosphere was cinematic. Streetlights glowing through fog, chai stalls releasing steam, and the sound of vehicles cutting through silence made the drive extremely soothing.

This kind of weather makes Lucknow perfect for morning vlogging and street photography. It also brings out the nostalgic side of the city, something every Lucknowite connects with emotionally.

Breakfast Stop: Bajpai Kachori, Hazratganj

No morning food walk in Lucknow is complete without kachori-sabzi. Our first stop was Bajpai Kachori in Hazratganj, one of the most famous breakfast spots in the city.

The kachori was perfectly crispy, and the aloo sabzi had the authentic Lucknow taste—balanced spices, rich texture, and comforting warmth. This place has been serving locals for years and continues to be a favourite among both residents and visitors.

Reaching early helped us avoid long queues and enjoy the food fresh and hot.

According to local records and shopkeepers stories, this shop started in the 1970s.

In the beginning, it catered mainly to nearby office workers, and gradually it became an important part of Hazratganj’s street food culture. Even today, its simple economic name and flavor pull people in.

This shop is in Lucknow’s heart Hazratganj, Google Locationhttps://maps.app.goo.gl/5L5zK5K7yhZGCEas7

History

1970-1975 | The Beginning Phase

  • The foundation of Bajpai Ki Kachori was laid in Hazratganj, Lucknow.
  • Founder: Babu Krishna Bajpai
  • The objective was very simple: Affordable and tasty breakfast for the common man.
  • In the beginning, it was a small cart/counter; there was no name board and no publicity.

1976-1985 | Started Becoming a Local Identity

  • Nearby office employees, shopkeepers, and students became regular customers.
  • “Morning Kachori” gradually became a habit of Hazratganj
  • This is where word-of-mouth marketing began.

1986-1995 | A Permanent Name in Hazratganj

  • The shop started being identified by the name “Bajpai Ki Kachori”
  • The Location (near Leela Cinema) played a major role as people going to watch movie, shoppers, people commuting by bus/auto were attracted.
  • This was the period when people used to say: “Aap hazratganj aae hain aur aapne Bajpai ki Kachori nahin khai”

1996-2005 | Generation Changed, Taste Remained the Same

  • After the founder, the next generation of the family over operations
  • The biggest decision was taken: The menu and taste will not be changed.
  • This consistency became its greatest strength.

Present | Heritage Street Food

  • Now this is not just a shop, but is considered part of Lucknow’s food heritage
  • In content, it is presented like Old but gold, No fancy branding only taste, Generations trusted.

Why did it became famous?

  2. Location Power: The heart of Hazratganj
  3. No over marketing: Only people’s recommendation
  4. Affordable pricing: For every class
  5. Emotional connect: Childhood, office days, college memories

Surprise Find: Idli Sambhar Street Cart

Just near Bajpai Kachori, we noticed a small idli sambhar cart. This was a pleasant surprise. Soft idlis, flavourful sambhar, and fresh chutney made for a great combination.

This reflects how Lucknow has evolved over the years—while staying rooted in its culture, it has also welcomed flavours from across India. Such unexpected food discoveries add authenticity and charm to travel vlogs.

Supporting Local Vendors: Shukla Tea Stall

After breakfast, chai was a must. We stopped at Shukla Tea Stall and enjoyed a strong cup of tea. Morning tea stalls are an essential part of Indian city life. They are places where conversations begin, news is exchanged, and the day officially starts.

Supporting such local vendors is important, as they represent the real backbone of street culture in India.

Passing by Vidhan Sabha, Lucknow

From Hazratganj, we moved towards the Vidhan Sabha building. Early morning is the best time to see this area because it is calm and less crowded. The architecture stands out beautifully, and the surroundings feel peaceful.

This stop adds a cultural and administrative perspective to the vlog, showing another important side of Lucknow.

Charbagh Railway Station: New Terminal Under Construction

One of the highlights of the vlog was visiting the under-construction new terminal building of Charbagh Railway Station. Charbagh is not just a railway station; it is a symbol of Lucknow’s heritage.

The new terminal represents modernization and future development while the original structure continues to stand as a historical landmark. Documenting this phase is important because it shows how the city is evolving to meet modern infrastructure needs.

Returning Home via Jail Road

After covering food spots, landmarks, and infrastructure development, we headed back home via Jail Road. This route completed our morning loop, bringing the journey to a calm and satisfying end.
